Maui police arrested and charged a woman with disorderly conduct after reports were made that she was allegedly waving what appeared to be a handgun in the air.
Police responded to the incident at the Salvation Army in Kīhei at around 5:26 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11.
According to police reports, officers arrived to find the woman lying on the ground, and handcuffed her.
Police say responding officers found the weapon in a grassy area nearby, but determined that it was a BB gun, and not a handgun as initially reported.
Police later identified the woman as 58-year-old April Rush, and described her as homeless.
Rush was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, and was being held in lieu of $100 bail at last report.
