Damages from Lahaina House Fire Estimated at $900,000

A house fire in West Maui resulted in an estimated $900,000 in damages to a home located at 908 Kana Place in Lahaina on Saturday evening, fire officials said.

The fire was reported at 5:49 p.m., was called under control at 7:28 p.m., and was extinguished at 11:28 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, according to department reports.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they found the two-story single-family home fully engulfed, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

According to Mainaga, all occupants were out of the home by the time firefighters arrived, and no injuries were reported.

Department officials say damages included $700,000 to the structure, and $200,000 to the contents.

The cause of the fire was undetermined after investigation, authorities said.

Crews responding to the incident included firefighters from Lahaina, Nāpili, Wailuku, and Kīhei.
