Maui police helped in the delivery of a baby boy early this morning after the parents arrived at the Lahaina station requesting assistance.

Police say Ulises Benjamin-Lozano arrived at the station at around 12:05 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, and asked police to help his wife, Samantha Garcia in the delivery of their first born child.

According to police reports, Officer John Salomon went to the couple’s vehicle, which was parked in front of the station to assist with the delivery.

Sergeant Dale Corpuz, Officer Coulson Joy and Officer Rahul Mehra, who had just completed their shift, also aided in the delivery of the child, police said.

“Police were able to keep the scene calm, as the baby was half way breached upon the arrival of Medic 4,” said Sergeant Audra Sellers in a press release statement.
