Retail Merchant Training Comes to Maui

Retail industry professionals on Maui are invited to a two training sessions being offered this week by the Retail Merchants of Hawaiʻi in partnership with the Maui Chamber of Commerce.
The sessions will be held on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 18 and 19, at the Cameron Center in Wailuku.
The training sessions will focus on customer service and sales management training. This includes employee recruitment, development, motivation and retention as well as supervisory, coaching and team building skills.
“Our retailers play a critical role in our state’s economic engine, which is why it is so important that we continue to provide them with the support and tools they need to continue to operate at the highest level,” said Retail Merchants of Hawaiʻi Chairman Mark Storfer of Hilo Hattie in an organization press release.
Additional training sessions focused on business optimization will include discussion of financing, pricing, loss prevention and risk management for small businesses.
The training program is being offered across the state under a $125,000 grant from the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
Cost for training is $35 for a 2 hour module, $60 for a 3.5 hour module, and $130 for a 7.5 hour module. Discounts are available for Retail Merchants of Hawaiʻi members. Information on registration is available by calling 808-592-4200.
