Water customers in Hāna are being asked to reduce water usage on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, as contractors conduct electrical connection work on a new backup well.

The remote East Maui community currently uses Hāmoa Well #1, which is the primary water source for Hāna town.

During work on the project, Hāmoa Well #1 will be working on intermittent power while crews work on the new Hāmoa Well #2 as a backup source.

The capital improvement project will bring the Hāmoa Well #2 online for backup service in November of 2014.

Customers can call the department’s 24-hour service line at (808) 270-7633, only if a water problem occurs.
