Maui Crime Log: 17 Burglaries, 17 Vehicle Break-ins

Maui police responded to 17 burglaries, 10 vehicle thefts, and 17 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period, between Oct. 5 to 11, 2014.

Of the 10 vehicle thefts, 6 vehicles have since been recovered.  There were two theft incidents each in Kīhei, Māʻalaea and Wailea, with additional vehicle thefts reported in Haʻikū, Kahului, Makawao and Wailuku.

Burglary incidents remained steady with 17 reported over the week, with the greatest number of incidents occurring in Kahului.

Vehicle break-ins increased to 17 for the week, six of them in the West Maui district of Lahaina.

• Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, 4:07 p.m.:  400 block of Waiama Way, residential, unlawful entry.
• Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, 7:30 p.m.:  2500 block of Kaupakalua Road, residential, forced entry.

Kahului:

• Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, 11:44 a.m.:  100 block of Molokaʻi ʻAkau Street, residential, unlawful entry.
• Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, 12:26 p.m.:  Kaʻahumanu Avenue at Hoaloha Park, non-residential, forced entry.
• Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, 3:33 p.m.:  300 Oneheʻe Avenue, residential, forced entry.
• Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, 7:05 p.m.:  100 block of Kuʻula Street, residential, unlawful entry.
