A myriad of ono food by Maui’s favorite restaurants is one the highlights on the menu for this year’s Lahaina Plantation Days.

For the sixth consecutive year, West Maui celebrates its plantation history with nostalgic food and festivities at the Lahaina Plantation Days event, this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 and 25, 2014.

Presented by the Lahaina Restoration Foundation, the two-day event will be held at the old Pioneer Mill Co. smokestack site along Lahainaluna Road.

Event hours are 5 to 10:30 p.m., with free parking on site.

Highlights this year include:

  • Plantation Life Tent: highlighting the jobs and workers of the plantation era. The exhibit will include artifacts, photos, letters, clippings, camp maps and other collectibles. Paintings by renowned artist Macario Pascual depicting plantation life will also be on display.
  • Friday Entertainment: taking the stage will be Ahumanu Hālau, Ikaika Blackburn, Josh Kahula/Nuff Sedd, and ʻEkolu.
  • Saturday Entertainment: will be Kamaka Fernandez, Mele Pono and Darren Lee as “Elvis” of Burn’n Love.
  • Multi-Cultural Demonstrations: will include Chinese calligraphy, Japanese kitsuke (kimono dressing), Portuguese regional costume and folklore, Los Flamencos en la Isla, and kalo demonstrations.

Food highlights include the following participants: Mixed Plate, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Captain Jack’s, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Cool Cat Café, Jini’s Curry, Kahana Sands Restaurant, Kimo’s, Lau Lau Booth, Leilani’s on the Beach, Leoda’s Kitchen & Pie Shop, Maui Brewing Co. BrewPub, Ocean Pool Bar & Grill at Westin Kāʻanapali Ocean Resort Villas, Pacific ‘O, Pad Thai Restaurant, Paradise Grill, Plantation House Restaurant, Prison Street Pizza, Roselani Ice Cream, Royal Ocean Terrace, Sangrita Grill & Cantina, Sea House Restaurant, Shark Pit Maui, Star Noodle, and Tiki Terrace Restaurant from the Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel.

There will also be brews by Maui Brewing Company, wines by Chambers and Chambers Wine Merchants, a MauiGrown Coffee tent, a farmers’ market, and a keiki carnival zone with nostalgic games.

Public admission is $5 for adults, and free admission for children 5 years of age and younger.
