Molokaʻi Landfill staffing shortage. Maui Now image. Maui Now image.

Insufficient staffing at the Molokaʻi landfill will result in the earlier than usual closure of the facility on Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, county officials announced.

The landfill will close at 1 p.m. on Saturday, instead of the usual 2:30 p.m. time.

Authorities with the Solid Waste Division, said the closure is necessary to ensure safe operations and meet the minimum State Department of Health operating requirements of the County’s solid waste permit.

Officials with the Solid Waste Division apologized for the inconvenience.
