Maui Crime Log Dec. 7-13: Burglaries, Thefts, Break-ins

Maui police responded to 19 burglaries, 18 vehicle thefts, and 29 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period, between Dec. 7 and 13, 2014.

The number of burglaries, vehicle thefts, and vehicle break-ins were all up from the amount reported a week earlier.

Vehicle thefts were up to 18 from 13 reported the week before.  Of the 18 vehicle thefts, seven vehicles have since been recovered.

The incidents were spread across the island with nine incidents in Kahului, and two incidents each in Wailuku, Nāpili and Haʻikū.

Burglary incidents increased for the week with 19 incidents reported, up from the 15 incidents reported the week before.

The greatest number of incidents occurred in Wailuku where five incidents occurred; followed by four in Haʻikū and three in Kahului.

Vehicle break-ins increased to 29, up from the 24 incidents reported the week before.  Eight of the incidents were in Kahului.
