The Hāna Landfill in East Maui will close early today and tomorrow due to insufficient staffing.  Officials with the Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, say the facility will close at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 19, and on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014.

Officials say the closure is necessary as the department must ensure safe operations and meet the minimum State Department of Health operating requirements of the County’s solid waste permit.

Authorities apologized for the inconvenience.
