Maui County Surf Forecast, Friday, December 26
North: Surf heights are expected head high to slightly overhead today for the best breaks east of Ho’okipa.
West: Spots open to the swells are expected to get waves waist to shoulder high on the sets at the best northerly breaks. Otherwise, breaks that don’t catch the swells, and / or are shadowed from it, are forecasted to get smaller surf at ankle high or flat.
South: Ankle to knee high wave heights expected at the best breaks today.
Our current north-northwest is forecasted to fade today but combined with the short-period north-northeast swell will keep wave heights up to about head high with some plusses on the sets.
A new northwest is forecasted for Saturday into Sunday with a reinforcement on tap for Monday.
Super small trace amounts of swell expected out of the SPAC. Not much to get excited about.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
