High School seniors in Maui County who wish to give back to the local economy have an opportunity to fund their college education through the Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship.
Jerman, an award-winning real estate broker on Maui since 2004, has made the scholarship available to high school seniors who want to contribute to Maui County by attaining advanced education. The funds apply for college-bound students seeking a full-time schedule at an accredited four-year college or university.
“What sets a successful applicant apart from the rest is the depth and breadth of their personal essay responses,” Jerman said. “I’m continuously impressed by the caliber of applicants each year—and even more impressed by those recipients who have now fulfilled the objective of the scholarship program, which is to return to Maui County as a productive member of the community.”
The scholarship, its 11th consecutive year, has awarded $35,000 in college funds to Maui, Moloka‘i, and Läna‘i seniors who have shown a zest for contributing to Maui County’s economy.
Last year, Tyler Pascua of Läna‘i High School, Takayoshi Tsutsui of Seabury Hall, and Nash Wuthrich of Baldwin High School received scholarship awards of $1,000 each through the Jerman Foundation. This year, three more high school seniors are eligible to receive the same.
To qualify, students must be a resident of Maui County, be enrolled in a full-time class schedule at an accredited four-year college or university for the 2015-16 school year, and show financial need.
The deadline to apply is Friday, Feb. 20, 2015.
