Power Restored to 2,300 Customers on Molokaʻi

An estimated 2,300 customers in various parts of Molokaʻi lost power on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 28, 2014.

Officials with Maui Electric Company say the outage was reported shortly before 2 p.m., and power was fully restored by 5:55 p.m.

The power outage affected customers on both the east and west end of the island, as well as Kualapuʻu and parts of Kaunakakai.

Company representatives say the cause of the outage remains under investigation.

(Update: 6:40 p.m. 12/28/14) Electrical service has been restored to all affected customers on the island of Molokai as of 5:55 p.m. Representatives from Maui Electric Company apologized for any inconvenience the situation may have caused and thanked customers for their patience and understanding.

(Update: 4:36 p.m. 12/28/14) The outage occurred shortly before 2 p.m. affecting an estimated 2,300 customers in various parts of the island including east, west, Kualapu’u and parts of Kaunakakai. Crews are working to identify and resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

(Posted: 1:33 p.m. 12/28/14)  A power outage was confirmed at 1:33 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, on Molokaʻi including the West End of the island, the East End, Kualapuʻiu, and parts of Kaunakakai. Crews are on scene.
