Ocean Search for Ultralight Suspended

Maui Fire Department personnel–Engine 6 from Kīhei Station and Ladder 14 from Wailea Station–Air-1 with Rescue 10 personnel, and the Coast Guard were dispatched to ocean waters outside of Halama Street in Kīhei at approximately 6 p.m. this evening to investigate a report of a downed ultra-light aircraft.

Air 1 conducted a search of the area until nightfall, and did not see any evidence to confirm the report.

A check with the airport tower confirmed that there were no missing aircraft. Because there have been no further calls or confirmations regarding the report, the search has been suspended.
