Maui Police Report Fatality in Kīhei

The Maui Police Department’s Kīhei Patrol reported a fatality on Thursday, Jan. 29.
At approximately 4:15 p.m., bystanders found Walter Sinsheimer, 82, of Seattle, Washington, unresponsive off the shore of Polo Beach, and conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Police, fire, and medical personnel responded and continued lifesaving efforts.
Despite their efforts, Sinsheimer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident has been classified as accidental. The cause of death is still pending.
