Maui County Seeks Nominees for Volunteer Heroes Award

The County of Maui Department of Housing and Human Concern’s Volunteer Center is looking to recognize community members who give back through volunteer service.

The center is asking local nonprofit and government agencies to submit nominations for an outstanding volunteer to be recognized during an awards program on Thursday, April 16, 2015 by Mayor Alan Arakawa, as part of a Celebration of Service.

“This awards program is a wonderful opportunity for your organization to say ‘mahalo’ to that special person who gives so freely of their time,” said Volunteer Center Coordinator Wendy Stebbins.

Volunteer heroes will be awarded with a certificate of appreciation, lei and a recognition token. The ceremony will take place as part of the Volunteer Center’s Celebration of Service in honor of National Volunteer Week, April 12 to 18. 2015.

Applications for submission can be found online at www.mauicounty.gov/VolunteerCenter (click the “Agency” tab, then on “Volunteer Hero Program”). The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 20, 2015.

Only one entry per non-profit organization or government agency is allowed.
