Maui police arrested a Lahaina man for his alleged connection with a fatal vehicle crash last year that claimed the life of 26-year-old woman.
Police say Lawrence Duran, 31, was arrested at 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday, March, 4, 2015, for a warrant following an indictment. He was charged with the following: first degree negligent homicide, operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant, inattentive driving, and no no-fault insurance.
The charges stem from a March 18, 2014 crash reported on the Honoapiʻilani Highway at the Shaw Street intersection.
Police say Kelley Peterson, a 26-year-old woman with no local address, died in the crash.
Duran was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at last report.

According to a police report filed by Maui police, a 1990 Toyota Corolla operated by a 30-year-old Lahaina man was traveling north on the highway when the vehicle struck a traffic signal pole within the east median. The crash was reported at 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
Police said the vehicle continued through the intersection and collided into a second traffic signal pole where it came to rest.
