Kamehameha Schools is now accepting applications for students interested in the Kamehameha Scholars program.

The year-round supplementary educational enrichment program is specifically for students entering grades 9 through 12 in Fall 2015, and who are not currently enrolled full-time at a Kamehameha School campus.

The program is also limited to individuals who reside on the islands of Oʻahu, Kauaʻi, Maui or Hawaiʻi Island.

The program is focused on college and career guidance and aims to support Native Hawaiian students in achieving a higher education degree, entering the career of their choice and cultivating their ability to be servant leaders.

Students who complete the program will receive a college scholarship.

Program representatives say that through enrollment in the Kamehameha Scholars program, scholars have the opportunity to gain skills that will help them be successful in high school, college and beyond.

“They will be able to effectively plan and implement their plans for life after high school and will be offered real-world experiences while learning more about college and careers,” program representatives said.

Scholars are expected to attend workshops, complete assignments and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 at their schools to remain enrolled in the program.

Applications are available now and must be postmarked by March 30, 2015. Applications may be downloaded HERE. Interested families may also call the Admissions Office at (808) 842-8800 or toll free at (800) 842-4682 ext. 8800 to have an application mailed to them.

Kamehameha Schools’ policy on admissions is to give preference to children of Hawaiian ancestry to the extent permitted by law.
