Hawaiʻi Association of Broadcasters Offers Scholarships

The Hawaiʻi Association of Broadcasters Inc. is offering academic scholarships to help students pursue college study with a career goal of working in the broadcast industry in the state. Students seeking broadcast careers in Hawaiʻi are encouraged to apply by the April 30, 2015, deadline.
High school seniors and college students who have a minimum 2.5 grade-point average with the desire to work in the broadcast industry in the state upon completion of school are eligible for awards.
The application process requires a completed application form, a letter of recommendation from a current or former teacher and a personal interview with the scholarship committee.
The application is available now through April 30, 2015 on the HAB website.
Last year, more than 20 students received awards ranging from $500 to $3,500 for study at schools in Hawaii and on the mainland. Nearly $600,000 has been awarded to students since the program’s launch in 1994.
The Hawaiʻi Association of Broadcasters is made up of radio and television stations and others with the common goal of supporting and benefiting the local broadcast industry.
