Maui Bicycling League Urges Support for Safe Pathways

Maui lacks sufficient bike/pedestrian pathways, said Maui Bicycling League Chair Saman Dias.
“There are so many benefits that help both our economy and health to flourish, said Dias. “Bike-pedestrian pathways, will help reduce traffic congestion and fatalities, increase public safety, support multi-modal transportation, increase tourism, provide more outdoor activities, reduce obesity and help the community become more eco-friendly.”
The Maui Bicycling League urges residents to sign a petition, email testimony or offer oral testimony to support 2016 budget items providing for increased bike-pedestrian pathways.
Support for these budget items can be emailed via the links below or mailed to the following committees:
Economic Development, Energy, Agriculture, and Recreation Committee
Infrastructure and Environmental Management Committee
Budget Meeting Schedule
- Monday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m., Lihikai Elementary School, 335 S. Papa Ave., Kahului.
- Wednesday, April 22, Mayor Hannibal Tavares Community Center, 91 Pukalani St., Pukalani.
Oral or written testimony on any agenda item will be accepted. Each testifier will be allowed to speak for three minutes on each item.
