MMMC Celebrates Nurses with Annual Blessing of the Hands
By Maui Now Staff
Maui Memorial Medical Center recently recognized and celebrated its nurses during National Nursing Week, culminating the week-long event with the Annual Blessing of the Hands. Nurses, technicians and other staff gathered in the MMMC courtyard for the ceremony and blessing event.
The blessing brought together staff from throughout the hospital with several hospital chaplains and others from the community, including Kimokeo Kapahulehua, who visited each floor of the hospital afterwards to offer an official blessing with ti leaves and salt from Kalaupapa, Molokaʻi.
“Nurses and our entire hospital staff give so much of themselves in caring for others that we look forward to this chance to honor them for their special gifts by blessing the hands that nurture so many.” said MMMC CEO Wesley Lo.
