Six young ladies from Maui are vying for the crown of Miss Hawaii 2015. Malika Dudley (Miss Hawaiʻi 2005 and Maui Now’s Chief Meteorologist) introduces us to these outstanding representatives. The pageant airs LIVE on OC16 from the Hawaiʻi Convention Center at 7 p.m. on Saturday May 30, 2015.
Miss Hawaiʻi 2014, Stephanie Steuri will crown one of the 29 contestants during the evening program. Although she was a Miss Paradise Kauaʻi before taking the title of Miss Hawaiʻi, Steuri has ties to Maui as well. According to the Miss America blog, Steuri’s mother was once Miss Maui and competed in the Miss Hawaiʻi pageant in 1977.
The Miss Hawaiʻi Organization has been a part of the island tradition for over 67 years and has crowned 70 Miss Hawaiʻi’s since its inception.
Last year the pageant awarded a total of $815,055 in scholarship awards.
