Unscheduled Cane Fire Burns 1 Acre in Pāʻia

An unscheduled burn charred one acre of sugar cane before being brought under control last night in Pāʻia.
The incident was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015 in a cane field near the old Lime Kiln site, just east of Baldwin Beach Park.
Fire crews from Pāʻia and Kahului kept the fire from spreading until crews from Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar company arrived on scene.
Authorities say the cause of the fire was undetermined and no injuries were reported.
