Kahului Hongwanji Mission will hold its annual Obon Festival on Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18.

The festival will begin with a service at 6:30 p.m. and special dance performances at 7:30 p.m. by Nakamura Minyo Kai and Matsudaira Ryu on Friday and Maui Minyo Kai on Saturday night.

Bon dancing will begin after the performances.

Food will include chow fun, bentos (teri beef, teri chicken, pork croquettes, vegetarian tofu patties), boomerang, chili, chili dog, Spam musubi, andagi and more.

There will also be games and a new craft room–happi coats, lighted fans, baked goods, pickled vegetables and peaches, and more.

The church is located at 291 South Pu‘unēnē Avenue.
