No Tsunami Threat to Hawai’i, 6.9 Solomon Islands Quake

There is no tsunami threat to Hawai’i following a preliminary magnitude 6.9 earthquake reported at 6:12 p.m. HST on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015 in the Solomon Islands region, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The USGS reports that the quake was located:

186km (116mi) SW of Dadali, Solomon Islands214km (133mi) W of Honiara, Solomon Islands443km (275mi) SE of Arawa, Papua New Guinea837km (520mi) E of Alotau, Papua New Guinea842km (523mi) SE of Kokopo, Papua New Guinea
