All Maui Forest Areas Closed as Ignacio Nears

All Maui Forest Reserves, Game Management Areas, Wildlife Sanctuaries and Natural Area Reserves are being closed for public safety due to threats of heavy rain and flash flooding, associated with the continued approach of Hurricane Ignacio.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife Maui district announced the closures saying they will take effect at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015.
Closures on Maui include:
- Forest Reserves: Kula, Makawao, Koʻolau, Kipahulu, Hāna, Waihou Springs, Kahikinui, West Maui (all sections), Molokaʻi;
- Natural Area Reserves: Hanawī, Nā Kula, West Maui (all sections), Kanaio, ʻĀhihi Kīnaʻu, Olokui, Puʻu Aliʻi;
- All Maui County Wildlife Sanctuaries;
- Game Management Areas: Lānaʻi GMA, and Kahakuloa GMA.
