Maui Walk Against Domestic Violence Steps into 4th Year
By Maui Now Staff
Women Helping Women and the West Maui Domestic Violence Task Force invite the public to participate in the 4th Annual Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Whaler’s Village in Kāʻanapali.
During the event, volunteers and community leaders take a pledge to help end domestic violence by participating in a walk to raise awareness for the cause.
In past years, organizers encouraged men to be leaders in the ongoing effort to prevent violence against women by asking them to walk a “mile” in women’s high-heeled shoes.
Participants will have a chance to win prizes and special awards for the best costume, largest team and most walker sponsorships. Walkers can register and put a team together at the event website. Donations are welcome as well.
This year the walk with be located oceanfront with registration set to start at 9:30 a.m.
