Ruby’s Diner Kahului Closes, Employees Encouraged to Attend Job FairOctober 13, 2015, 1:28 PM HST · Updated October 14, 1:38 PM Wendy Osher · 27 Comments
Ruby’s Diner in Kahului did not open for business on Monday, Oct. 12, and has remained closed since.
A sign posted on the exterior of the building states: “We are sorry to inform you that Ruby’s Diner Kahului is now closed for business. We will miss this place as much as you will. A hui hou.”
A separate sign notes that unused Ruby’s dinner gift cards that were purchased from Costco, can be refunded at Costco.
Jackie Perreira, General Manager for the Queen Ka’ahumanu Center responded to our request for information saying, “The owners of Ruby’s Diner have informed us they will not be reopening. While we’re disappointed with their decision to close, we’re proud to have had Ruby’s as part of our family for so many years.”
“For those in our community who are left without employment, we want them to be aware Queen Kaʻahumanu Center will host a job fair this weekend in center court, in partnership with Pacific Media Group. More than 50 Maui businesses will be seeking new team members,” said Perreira.
Perreira said, “Though we are saddened by this closure, we are excited about the future of Queen Ka’ahumanu Center, our newly announced tenants including Bath and Body Works and Victoria’s Secret, and the work we are doing to re-position the property, enhance and reinvigorate the customer experience.”
Due to a mainland time difference, Representatives with The Ruby Restaurant Group were not immediately available for comment when we reached out to the company to explain the nature of the closure.
