The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens will host their 12th annual Arbor Day, “1,000 Hawaiian Tree Giveaway,” on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon while supplies last.

More than 25 native tree varieties will be available for free (one tree per person, any age can participate).

Free trees available include: ‘a‘ali’i, ‘ānapanapa, hala, hame, hao, hau hele, kamani, koa, koki‘o ‘ula‘ula, kou, kukui, lama, māmaki, māmane, ma‘o, milo, naio, nānū, noni, ‘ōhai,’ōhi’a ‘ai, ‘ōhi‘a lehua, pōhinahina, and wauke.

Experts will also be available to recommend the best Hawaiian tree suitable for your area of residence.

The celebration will also feature lectures, cultural activities including kapa and cordage making, makahiki games, and booths set up by community organizations to share critical environmental information.

The Gardens are located at 150 Kanaloa Avenue in Kahului across the street from War Memorial Stadium.  The event is sponsored by: Maui Electric Company, Kaulunani Urban & Community Forestry Program and Maui Nui Botanical Gardens.

Admission is free and there is no charge for parking.
