North: Wave heights are expected to be overhead high or more for trade swell standout spots like Hana. Breaks that aren’t catching the east-northeast swell will be pretty flat.
West: Wave heights waist/chest high are expected today. The best breaks could get up to shoulder high on the sets. Spots shadowed by other islands will be pretty flat.
South: The south-southwest is expected to bring waist/chest high waves today. The best breaks could get up to shoulder/head high.
Our current south-southwest continues through Friday. A slightly bigger swell is expected to build through the day Friday and will show for the weekend with a reinforcement on tap late in the weekend into early next week.
A short-lived northwest swell is for the weekend, building Saturday evening and holding through Sunday morning before beginning to fade.
Keep in mind, surf heights are measured on the face of the wave from trough to crest. Heights vary from beach to beach, and at the same beach, from break to break.
