Maui to Observe Worldwide Aquathon Day, Saturday

The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation, Aquatics Division, announced that it is sponsoring a free “Aquathon” in observance of Worldwide Aquathon Day, which is being held in 73 countries across the globe.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon HST on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015.

The Maui event is listed as the only one in the state, and Hawaiʻi is one of 14 states in the US participating in the global event.

The Kīhei Aquatic Center will be one of 171 venues around the world hosting the three-hour aqua fitness and exercise session. Options include lap swimming, group aqua fitness, and parent/tutu and baby activities.

Registration for the free event runs from 7-8:30 a.m. at Kihei Aquatic Center, located at 303 E. Lipoa St. Participants may form a relay team or sign up individually, and may choose to stay for one hour, two hours, or the full three hours.
