Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested a Puna man in connection with a double sexual assault reported on Tuesday in the Piʻihonua area.

Oran Charles Kita, 36, of Keaʻau was initially arrested yesterday on a warrant for a 2011 case, charging him with first-degree promotion of marijuana.

While in custody, he was also arrested on suspicion of promoting a detrimental drug, and on suspicion of first degree sex assault for a 2011 case in which he had been a featured individuals on Hawaiʻi Island’s most wanted list.

Last night, detectives with the Juvenile Aid Section arrested Kita on suspicion of 42 additional offenses for the double sex assault earlier this week involving a female adult and a female minor.

Kita remained at the Hilo police cell block at last report, while an investigation continues.
