Results: 3rd to 5th Graders Compete in Maui Math Challenge
The results of the 4th annual Maui Math Challenge, hosted by Seabury Hall were released today. The event was held over the weekend on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, and featured more than 100 students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades at 10 schools across Maui.
Competing this year were: Carden Academy of Maui; Emmanuel Lutheran School; Haʻikū Elementary School; Kahului Elementary School; Kamaliʻi Elementary School; Kula Elementary School; Makawao Elementary School; Montessori School of Maui; Pōmaikaʻi Elementary School; and Pukalani Elementary School.
The competition was created by Jesse Doan, a junior attending Seabury Hall. Doan said he started the event as a community service project in an effort to create an opportunity for students to excel in math, to spark interest in students in STEM and mathematics careers, and to give recognition to outstanding math students.
