Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship Open to Maui County Students

Josh Jerman of Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers is once again offering the Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship to encourage college-bound students to use their education to benefit Maui County.

Now in its 12th consecutive year, the scholarship program provides academic scholarships to college-bound students who will attend a full-time program at an accredited four-year college or university.

To date, the program has awarded more than $38,000 in scholarships to Maui, Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i high school seniors who have displayed a passion for returning to Maui County after college to contribute to the local economy.

Josh Jerman has been an award-winning, top-producing real estate broker on Maui since 2004. He is the founder of the Josh and Souk Jerman Foundation, the Josh Jerman Maui Nui Scholarship and a benefactor of several local charities and nonprofit organizations.

“I encourage all college-bound students in Maui County who have a desire to contribute positively to our community to apply,” said Jerman. “Over the past 11 years since the scholarship was founded, there have been numerous students who have graduated with their degrees who have returned to the island with a purpose and desire to support our community and island lifestyle.”

Last year, Jerman awarded three Maui County high school graduates scholarships of $1,000 each. The recipients were Sarah Jenkins from Moloka‘i High School, Marc Pader from Lāna‘i High School and Ja‘ie Victorine-Dyment from Hāna High and Elementary School.

Jenkins is currently attending Duke University, where she is studying environmental engineering. Pader is attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he is majoring in architecture. Victorine-Dyment is attending the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, where she is pursuing a degree in psychology.

This year, another trio of high school seniors will receive $1,000 each based on their plans to contribute to Maui County’s workforce after graduation.

To apply, students must be a resident of Maui County, be enrolled in a full-time program at an accredited four-year college or university (for the 2016-17 academic year) and demonstrate financial need.

The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 19, 2016. Recipients of the award will be notified on or before March 31, 2016. Students can download application materials.
