Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel Appoints Cultural Resource Advisor

The Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel, marketed as Hawaiʻi’s Most Hawaiian Hotel, recently announced the appointment of Kauʻi Krueger as its Hawaiian Cultural Resource Advisor.

Krueger has had a longstanding connection with Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel and participated in its annual Hula O Nā Keiki event, winning the prestigious title of Overall Kane in 2010.

The following year, he won the Richard Hoʻopiʻi Falsetto contest inspiring him to begin his journey through the traditions of ʻuniki, the traditional process of becoming a kumu hula.

Krueger will work alongside the cultural staff to assist in their overall mission of providing Hawaiian guidance within every aspect of the hotel, from its management system to daily operations

A primary focus of his position will be developing and teaching Poʻokela classes to staff.  Instituted in 1986 by the hotel, Poʻokela ensures employees are educated about Hawaiʻi’s culture through classes that cover Hawaiian language, history, local plants, arts, song and other areas.

Kauʻi will also assist with the implementation of additional cultural programming for guests that incorporate rich and authentic experiences through music, hula and additional guest offerings.

Kāʻanapali Beach Hotel currently offers an array of complimentary daily cultural activities such as hula lessons, ʻukulele classes, cultural garden walks and nightly Hawaiian entertainment.
