Swimmer Caught in Rip-Tide Rescued at Nāpili Bay
A firefighter and ocean safely personnel assisted a swimmer to shore after the man became caught in a rip-tide at Nāpili Bay on Sunday afternoon.
Fire officials say the 50-year-old local resident stated that he had gone into the ocean to assist a group of other swimmers that appeared to be in distress, when he got into trouble himself.
The incident was reported at around 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2016.
Officials say the swimmer was brought to shore without incident and no medical attention was required. Fire officials say the other swimmers were able to make it to shore on their own.
Emergency crews from Engine 11 in Nāpili and lifeguards from DT Fleming responded to the incident .
