Police Renew Request for Information in Fatal Shooting of Horse in Makawao

Maui police have renewed their request for information regarding a horse that was shot in Makawao last year, in May of 2015.

According to police reports, the owner of the horse found the animal deceased with an apparent gun shot wound to the right side of its neck at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2015.  The mare, named “Hula Girl,” was last seen alive at around 4:30 p.m. the previous day.

Police say the horse was being kept in a pasture next to Seabury Hall, just off of Meha Road in Makawao.

Anyone with information is asked to call Maui Police at (808) 244-6400 or Officer Jan Pontanilla at (808) 270-6353.  To report information anonymously, the public can call Crime Stoppers at (808) 242-6966.
