West Maui Hospital to Break Ground in August

The West Maui Hospital Foundation has announced that the much-anticipated West Maui Hospital and Medical Center will break ground at an on-site public ceremony on Aug. 15 in Lahaina.

The ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the site of the future medical campus at Kaka‘alaneo Drive, mauka of Honoapi‘ilani Highway.

The target date for the hospital’s opening is late 2018.

The facility will include a 25-bed critical access hospital facility, which will house a 24-hour emergency room.

The WMHMC will also include a 40-bed skilled nursing facility, 40-unit assisted living facility, tow medical office buildings, and a future drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility.

The foundation’s mission is to bring medical care to the West Side of Maui by late 2018.
