Emergency crews responded to a child that was reportedly pulled from the swimming pool at the Maui Banyan Condominium on South Kīhei Road at around 9:16 p.m. on Saturday July 16, 2016.
Wailea firefighters arrived at 9:21 p.m. and found a 3-year-old female child unresponsive but breathing on her own.
A bystander saw the child unresponsive in the pool and pulled her out. An off-duty nurse provided rescue breathing to the child until firefighters and paramedics arrived and took over.
Paramedics transported the child to Maui Memorial Medical Center in serious condition.
The child and family are visiting from Korea.
