Community Project to Spruce up Pukalani Elementary
The Lions Club of Kahului and The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation will collaborate on a “Weinberg Friends Program” community project at Pukalani Elementary School this Saturday, July 23, 2016.
Lions Club members will begin their project with landscaping and maintenance on a mural which organizers say represents the Spirit of the Pukalani Elementary School.
Organizers say the project not only benefits Pukalani Elementary School, but includes a grant of $10,000 from the Weinberg Friends Program that the Lions have designated to go to Hospice Maui.
Hospice Maui will use the funds to support their patients and families who require extra assistance not paid by their insurance, through the Hospice Maui Kōkua Fund.
The Fund focuses on two areas: supplementing care giving to allow seriously ill patients to stay at home, and paying for room and board for patients who can’t afford to stay in Hospice Maui’s 5-bedroom Hale.
