Japengo Crafts New Cocktails for National Rum Day

In celebration of National Rum Day, Japengo at Hyatt Regency Maui will be unveiling two new Bacardi cocktails for $12 on Tuesday, August 16. The new cocktails, named Ocho Fashioned and Hand-Shaken Daiquiri, join Japengo’s impressive cocktail menu featuring specialty cocktails, classic and modern tiki cocktails, craft beer, wine, sake, and sake flights.

For those who might want to try crafting their own, Japengo is sharing the recipes:

Ocho Fashioned 

2 oz Bacardi 8 yr Rum

.5 oz Brown Sugar Syrup

3 dashes Angostura Bitters

3 dashes Bitters Truth Orange Bitters

Method: Add bitters, syrup and rum to mixing glass with ice. Stir until well chilled and strain over large ice if available

Garnish: wide orange peel and luxardo cherry on bar pick

Hand-Shaken Daiquiri 

2 oz Bacardi Maestro

1 oz Lime Juice

.75 oz Simple Syrup

Method: Add lime, syrup and rum to mixing glass with ice. Shake and strain into martini glass

Garnish: Thin lime wheel floating

Japengo’s lounge welcomes guests between 5 and 10 p.m., with happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m. The dining room and sushi bar are open from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. nightly.
