Eight People Displaced by Kula Home Fire

UPDATE: Eight people were displaced by a house fire in Kula on Tuesday evening.
Fire officials say the residents occupied the one-story dwelling used for housing farm workers, and all were at home when the fire was discovered.
Upcountry firefighters responded to the scene at Kamehameiki Road in Kula at 6:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016.
Kula firefighters arrived at 6:52 p.m. to found the one-story residential structure fully engulfed in flames.
Initially, about 14 firefighters including a battalion chief from Kula, Makawao, and Kahului responded to the blaze. Two additional companies from Paia and Kahului also responded to the scene to assist.
Fire officials say all occupants got out safely and no injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is assisting the families with their immediate needs.
Monetary loss figures will be released after the preliminary investigation is completed.
Fire investigators remained on scene into the evening, looking into what may have started the fire, while crews worked to wrap up mop up operations.
