The Hosmer Grove Campground and Nature Trail, in the Summit District of Haleakalā National Park, has re-opened.

The campground closed on July 28, 2016 due to hazardous trees and broken branches caused by high winds and ground saturation from Tropical Storm Darby.

A tree inspector evaluated the campground and nature trail.  Park rangers say hazardous trees and branches were removed, and the campground was re-opened on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016.
