Maui School Closures

All Department of Education schools and offices in Maui County will be closing at noon on Friday, Sept. 2, due to preparations for Hurricane Lester. All after-school activities are cancelled and parents are advised to make necessary arrangements.

Charter School Info:

There are two charter schools in Maui County.   Kualapuʻu Public Conversion Charter School on Molokaʻi will be closed on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016; and Kīhei Charter School will close at noon on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016. For public charter school information, visit the Charter Commission website.

Private School Early Closures:

Seabury Hall will close at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2.  School administrators say lunch will be served and buses will depart at 12:30 p.m.  All afternoon and weekend activities, including athletics are cancelled for Seabury Hall.  The Christ The King Child Development Center will close at noon on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016. Also on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016: St. Anthony Preschool- children will be released at noon; St. Anthony School grades 6-12 will be released at 12:45 p.m.; and St. Anthony Grade School will be releasing their children at 1:15 p.m. St. Anthony administrators say parents are asked to pick up their children in a timely fashion as our faculty will be released soon after to take care of their families. All after school care, athletics and events are cancelled. Noah’s Ark Early Childhood Center in Kahului is closing at 12 noon on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016. St. Joseph E.L.C. Makawo Maui will be closed on Friday, Sept. 2 due to hurricane Lester.  Classes at St. Joseph E.L.C. will resume on Sept. 6th

MIL Sports: 

All MIL sports scheduled for this weekend will be postponed until a later date. There will be no practices nor will other activities be allowed once school is out on Friday, Sept. 2. All student athletes should go home after being released from school on Friday. The football game between Kekaulike and Lahainaluna scheduled for Friday night will be played on Monday, Sept. 5, at Kekaulike High School at 6 p.m. The football game between Baldwin and Maui scheduled for Saturday night will be played at the War Memorial stadium on Monday, Sept. 5, at 3:30 p.m. (JV) and 6 p.m. (Varsity). All other sports will be rescheduled next week.

UH Closures in Maui County Ahead of Hurricane Lester: University of Hawaiʻi Maui College and all other UH facilities in Maui County will close at noon on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, and all events and classes are cancelled tomorrow after noon and Saturday ahead of Hurricane Lester.  The facilities that will close include: UH Maui College; Hāna Education Center; Lānaʻi Education Center; Lahaina Education Center Molokaʻi Education Center; All UH Mānoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources facilities in Maui County; and all UH Mānoa Institute for Astronomy facilities in Maui County. Events cancelled include:* Maui Swap Meet on the UH Maui College campus.  Updates, if any, will be sent to the UH community via UH email and/or UH Alert text message.
