Enjoy dinner, dessert and dancing to the music of Jimmy Mac & the Kool Kats while helping the Lahaina Tutoring Program on Thursday, Oct. 20 at Sheraton Maui Resort in Kā‘anapali.
There are two ticket options:
- Dinner, dessert & dancing from 5:45 to 10 p.m., including two beverages, pūpū, salad, surf & turf entrée, dessert bar and music for $200 including tax & tip.
- Dessert & dancing from 7 to 10 p.m. for $80 including tax & tip.
The Anuenue Gala will also include a live auction of guest nights at resorts around West Maui, and a few other packaged items.
Tickets can be purchased online here, or by phone at 808-665-5815. All net proceeds benefit the Lāhainā Complex After School Program, which provides volunteer tutors to hundreds of public school students from grades 3 to 8 in various academic subjects.
The program, in its 16th year, does not have a regular source of funding, so fundraisers are an important source for the operational budget, which includes expenses for curriculum reproduction each year, snacks for students, student incentives for attendance and home work, and busses to and from tutoring at Boys & Girls Club. On an overall basis last year, test scores improved by an impressive 84% for students in the program.
People for Educational Equality and Beyond the Rainbow Foundation are co-sponsors for this event. Both are non-profits that support the tutoring program through regular fundraisers, and the founders of both entities are tutors in the program.
