Luann Lee Tavares, 53, of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on Nov. 16, 2016. She was born on July 17, 1963, in Wailuku, Maui.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at Norman’s Mortuary; service will begin at 7:30 p.m.; cremation will follow.
Luann was an office clerk for Maui Disposal. She is survived by her son, Shandon (Jaz) Tavares; daughter, Shani (Baba) Tavares; parents, Jerome & Nancy Vierra, Sr.; brother, Jerome Vierra, Jr.; sister, Nanette Akee; and grandchildren, Shayana Tateyama, and Evan Tavares.
Stacie Lee Medeiros
December 1, 1958 – November 16, 2016
A Memorial Service will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016 from 9 a.m. to noon with prayer service at 11 a.m.
Stacie loved God with all her heart and loved her family and friends. She also loved animals. Taking care of them was her passion and her little dog, Ellie, was special to her. Stacie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends because family was very important to her. She also enjoyed listening to reggae music.
Stacie is predeceased by her father, David H. Medeiros. She is survived by her mother, Priscilla “Pearl” Medeiros; daughter, Shelly Ann Medeiros; grandsons, Jeffrey & Jessie Espirito and Colton Medeiros; sisters, Karen Cordeiro, Crystal (Alan) Vares; brothers, Clyde Medeiros, David H. Medeiros Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Loretta Galam
May 22, 1940 – November 15, 2016
Loretta Galam, 76, of Kahului, Maui, passed away on Nov. 15, 2016, under the care of Hospice Maui. She was born on May 22, 1940, in Puʻunēnē.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at St. Ann’s Church in Waiheʻe; mass will begin at 11 a.m.; burial will follow, 2 p.m., at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery in Wailuku.
Loretta retired as a clerk from Maui Land and Pineapple Company in the Kapalua Accounting Department.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy D. Galam; son, Jimmy D. Galam, Jr.; daughter, Kimberly M. (Russell) Phillips; brother, Fred (Leo) Asuncion, Sr.; sisters, Evelyn (Rudy) Mina, Maggie Ballesteros; and grandchildren, Jacob Phillips, Kayla Phillips and Ayelah Galam, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Loretta was predeceased by her parents, Valeriano and Lucia Asuncion; and sister, Agnes (Patrick) Cockett. The family would like to acknowledge Hospice Maui for their compassionate care of Loretta.
Wilfredo Paulino
September 1, 1940 – November 14, 2016
Wilfredo Paulino, 76, of Kahului, Maui passed away on Nov. 14, 2016, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 1, 1940, in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at Ballard Family Mortuary; eulogy will begin at 7:30 p.m. Services will also be held in Laoag City at a later date.
Wilfredo was a retired Landscaper at Island Plant Company. He is survived by his wife, Inocencia Paulino; daughters, Imelda (Eliezer) Vidad, Eliza (Daniel) Mariano, Maria Magdalena (Christopher Cruz), Maria Teresa (Alex) Lampitoc, Maria Corazon (Conrado, Jr.) Tolentino – deceased; siblings, Miguel Paulino, Christina Gabriel, Leonardo Paulino, Maria Delacruz, Cornelio Paulino; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
Patrick Sylva
March 17, 1974 – November 14, 2016
Patrick Sylva, 42, of Kula, passed away on Nov. 14, 2016 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He was born on March 17, 1974 in Wailuku.
He worked at the Pukalani Golf Course as a Lead Maintenance.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, at Ballard Family Mortuary in Kahului, service will begin at 11 a.m.
Family requests casual attire and to please limit flowers to lei only.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Mandy Sylva; son, Kulika Sylva; daughter, Sheridan Kailiehu; parents, Alan Sylva and Anna Jarnesky Sylva; brother, Calvin (Dianti) Sylva; nephews, Caleb and Colten Sylva; and niece, Caitlyn Sylva.
Clara “Lady” Pico
October 27, 1930 – November 12, 2016
Clara worked at various companies throughout her life, which included retail, hospitality industry and the Department of Education, where she retired from. Her passion however, was teaching catechism at Holy Rosary Church in Pāʻia, which she did for 50 years. In her free time, Clara enjoyed spending time with her family and tending to her plants.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016 at Holy Rosary Church in Pāʻia from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m., burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park in Wailuku.
Clara is predeceased by her husband, Albert Pico; daughter, Valerie Pico; granddaughter, Rhyene-Kelli Jhun; parents, Solomon and Louisa Maalea; brothers, James and Thomas Maalea; sisters, Louise Bega, Julia Lane and Matilda Waikiki. She is survived by her five children, Juzline Leiwalo, Kathy (Brian Miller) Pico, Randy (Cheri) Pico, Alberta (Herb) Vierra, and Rory (Suzane) Pico; 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
