Brushfire Burns Two Acres in Pūlehu/Ōmaʻopio Area

Maui firefighters were called to reports of a brushfire in the Pūlehu/Ōmaʻopio area at approximately 3:47 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2017.

Crews arrived on scene to find an active fire burning in an old sugar cane field.

Firefighters were able to control and extinguish the blaze within two hours. It is estimated that two acres of brush had burned in the incident.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire has not been determined.

Crews responding to the scene included Engine 13 out of Kula, Engine 10 and Tanker 10 out of Kahului, and a Battalion Chief.
