Aloha Mayor,

Q: When will the seawall at Ho‘okipa be fixed? It’s pretty dangerous with that metal fence right now.

A: Our parks staff tell me a contractor has been selected and repairs on the surf-damaged section of the seawall at Ho‘okipa Beach Park are expected to begin in late January or next month.

I ask that people stay away from the damaged area for now, as the seawall is very old.

In the past, children used to climb up and down on the wall but I would advise against that now for safety considerations. Mahalo.
