HSTA Teachers March at State Capitol
Thousands of Hawaiʻi teachers and their supporters will march from the Neal Blaisdell Center to the Hawaiʻi State Capitol in support of the Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association’s efforts to secure a new contract.
The HSTA is asking for a contract that attracts and retains teachers as well as a constitutional amendment to improve funding for the Hawaiʻi school system.
The march begins at 10 a.m. and continues on to the State capitol rotunda where chants and speeches are planned.
The HSTA is the exclusive representative of more than 13,500 public school teachers statewide.
As the state affiliate of the 3.2-million-member National Education Association, HSTA represents and supports teachers in collective bargaining, as well as with legislative and professional development issues.
