Dr. Timothy Berney (Maui Medical Group)

Maui Medical Group has appointed Dr. Timothy Berney to its Orthopedic Surgery Team. Dr. Berney joins Maui Medical Group with an extensive background in orthopedic sports medicine and surgery.

He received his undergraduate degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington; and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana; and his fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine at Orthopedic Healthcare Northwest in Eugene, Oregon, where he also served as an assistant team physician for the University of Oregon football team, the Oregon Ducks.

After being in private practice for 10 years in Aberdeen, Washington; Dr. Berney worked at the Arizona Orthopedics Joint Replacement & Sports Medicine Center in Tucson, Arizona; prior to joining Maui Medical Group.

Dr. Berney is an expert in minimally-invasive orthopedic surgery, total joint replacements, fracture care, peripheral nerve decompression such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome, and non-operative treatment of common bone and joint disorders.

He has a particular interest and subspecialty training in the arthroscopic treatment of sports injuries such as cartilage and meniscus tears; labral tears; rotator cuff tears; and ligament reconstruction of the ankle, knee and shoulder.

Dr. Berney is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He has subspecialty certification with added qualification in orthopedic sports medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Maui Medical Group offers five clinics on the island of Maui located in Wailuku, Lahaina, Pukalani Kīhei and their newest clinic in Kahului.
